Check This Song Out

If the NFL has one thing correct, it's that music makes everything better, including the bone-rattling explosions that pass as tackles in football. The NFL has long used the imagery of the players on the football field as gladiators engaging in epic battle, and few things put this imagery accross quite as effectively as a highlight reel backed by some epic classical music.

A few years ago, the NFL partnered with two composers who go by the name E.S. Posthumus to put together some epic sounding classical music to accompany commercials, highlight reels, and films. The latest piece to come from this union aired Sunday night prior to the Superbowl. Video inside!
Now, I've known for a long time that classical music goes well with pretty much everything. Classical music + rock is awesome; classical music + techno is my favorite. Classical music by itself is damn cool. Sunday I discovered that classical music + rap can be amazing as well.

For Sunday's game, E.S. Posthumus composed the music for a remix of Jay-Z's Run This Town featuring Rihanna. The results... spectacular. Now, I'm not a particularly big fan of rap, nor am I even a huge fan of the lyrics to this song, but I am a huge fan of E.S. Posthumus' work. This song - well, the actual music anyway - is ridiculously powerful and is a pleasure to listen to. Check it out here. Note the clever use of the NFL theme in several parts of the song.

Do you think that they will ever release this song full version and without the sports announcers over the music? I love this song!

Glad to hear I'm not alone! :P

This song is great, but I haven't heard anything about them releasing the song in full version. I'll keep an eye out, though, and post anything I find.
